The Family Constellations healing modality explores deep unconscious, trans-generational dynamics within a family system, and how these often contribute to problems and imbalances in our everyday lives. A wide range of issues that often seem completely disconnected from family issues, can be successfully addressed through constellation work. This can include relationship difficulties, illnesses, depression, anxiety, addictions, career issues and much more.
In the traditional model of family constellations, a group of about 10 to 20 people would sit in circle. Between 5 and 10 delegates would constellate their issue/family in a day, with the rest observing and benefiting from stepping into the Knowing Field as representatives of the client’s family members. There is always kismet at play as those who represent will often resonate with the work done, thereby assisting in their own family healing.
At the beginning of a session the facilitator conducts a short interview with the client to establish the issue they hold as well as some family background. This gives a starting point for the facilitator to identify certain themes and patterns in the client’s family system.
The client will then invite members of the circle to represent specific family members and place them in the work area, also referred to as the Field. Simply by intention the representatives will take on the thoughts and feelings of the family member they are representing and give feedback about any immediate physical and emotional changes. The facilitator observes closely the body language and energetics between “family members” to identify hidden patterns in the family story, which then enables the constellation to move towards a healing resolution for the client but also all souls involved in that story.
In short: the representative acts as a conduit to connect with the soul of the person they represent – whether living or dead. At this level there exists only love, and by revealing and acknowledging the love that is behind even the darkest human stories, we gain understanding and return balance to skewed family dynamics. This filters down into the person’s everyday experience in the weeks that follow.
